Hey guys. Could anyone recommend a good air-purifier to put in a room with SPD apparatus? Something that would help to absorb the smell. Do they help at all?
You mean the smell that comes off th vacuum pump? Just run the exhaust line into a bucket of soapy water (Dawn works best imo).
Cheers!
Edit:
BUCKET: $5
DAWN: $10
HOSE: $10
Water: $…

I have a few of these guys around my lab. I keep one right next to my pumps. Theres still a smell but at least it filters it somewhat
Not just that smell. Whole bunch of them. Smell of ethanol, crude, the stench of decarbonization…
You will want some good ventalation, especially when cleaning glassware with copious amounts of acetone. Have the exhaust go through a carbon filter and discharge outside. Size your fans/ducting as to get a full air exchange every 5 min. “pull down” ducts may be added to adress specific jobs that create alot of vapor.
Tricks of the trade!!
What can I do without the ability to discharge outside.? My fan and carbon filter are not cutting it, and I am in jeopardy of losing my space.
these guys are a Canadian Company Air Sniper bit less on the small side of the scale. and kind of pricey if you have a small budget.
unless you can discharge outside, your going to have to handle your fumes with a suitable filter.

contact this company and describe what chemicals/solvents you use, they will give you a recommendation. you will probably want some sensors in there to show low o2 levels and solvent ppms in the air. when you recirculate your air you need to be extra cautious of the quality of the room air. You are going to have to service and replace the carbon and hepa filters regularly.
