Advice to Package Faster (Without Adding More Wooks)

I’ve got a Lean MFG guy. I’ve told him about the forum. Maybe I can get him to jump on. Let’s crowd source some efficiency here. Is this whole process documented? Any work instructions or photos? Also, any metrics?

I love streamlining and process optimization. I just got a chill. :star_struck:

Send leftovers to my address! I will “dispose” of them for free

Maybe some cbd tinctures sure. No reason to send you delta8 carts though. Dead inventory sucks

Lean FTW.

Did you see my posts? I’m all about lean and Kaizen. And Six Sigma for some companies.

I haven’t got the chance to document the process but I can give you a general rundown of what I do.

  1. Fill
  2. Cap
  3. Assemble box (bottom of the box portion first) + (bottom of the box sticker)
  4. Insert Disposable
  5. Complete Assembly of box (top of the box portion) + (top of the box sticker)
  6. Assemble 10PC Box
  7. Insert all 10 Singles into 10PC Box.

Bam, finished product.

& Of course I do this in sections I don’t do it 1 by 1 like this. Usually goes like,

  1. Package ALL packaging inventory (Bottom Portion First)
  2. Apply Bottom Stickers to ALL packaging inventory (Bottom Sticker First)
  3. Fill & Cap ALL hardware inventory
  4. Put Disposable into the box & package off the top of the packaging & apply sticker
  5. Assemble ALL 10PC boxes
  6. Insert 10 single boxes into 10PC box, repeat and rinse until I am out of inventory and they are all in the 10PC boxes.

Think this is how Jeeter gets away with bags for their disposables.

I see alot of jeeters in the black market. Really popular. AND they are in bags.

Which is surprising given their disposable design being as unique as they are, but the packaging/disposable is out there. Per usual, some are better than others, but most that I’ve seen are clearly fakes because they don’t produce a gram disposable & there’s a typo on the back of the package. Also usually missing the USB cable, but everything else is close enough to pass a quick look.

Never knew they didn’t make full 1G disposables. That’s funny because ALL of the ones I see are 1 gram jeeter disposables Lol

We work with hundreds are small, medium and enterprise scale vape brands. Mostly legal market brands but a hand full of some talented BM brand operators also.

In addition to providing them trustworthy and reliable vape hardware, we’ve also developed jigs for automated filling and capping. Anyone that uses our Eazy Press (sold as AVD or AVEO), which btw we developed and own the Trademark on, knows our tips come pre-racked and can easily be mass capped with simply the use of a leather press sourced off of Amazon.

Where things often get tricky is when it comes to packaging as being the main bottleneck.

For example, we had a BM client that does several hundred thousand units a month that had a team of 6 spend weeks simply folding the box packaging.

Our team of automation experts were able to create a fully automated box folding solution that literally took one month of time and labor cost to pay for the cost of the machine.

We don’t prefer to show it here, but if anyone wants to know more, we can shoot over some videos of our what we have made for others.

The REAL AVD is now AVEO

Is this supposed to be true? I 100% bought your ez press carts and those tips came in bags of 600 not preracked at all. The reservoir came in foam and maybe its rigid enough but I doubt it. Everything has to be transferred to a second jig or pressed by hand or both.

I think also that @AVID missed that a large portion of this post is about post-filling packaging. AKA boxes, stickers, compliance labels, tamper tape, cases, etc.

I’m interested to see your automated boxing, stickering, labeling, taping, casing system. And I’m sure everyone else is as well - always looking for automated options that exist and won’t break the bank.

Wow, that’s a nice box. You should check out your local guidelines and regulations to see what is and isn’t allowed. @anon45638961 brought up a good point. If that’s the case maybe stay away from mylar bags, and buy thick plastic clamshell packages with foam inside. So it protects your product and has a premium feel.

But to me, a brand is more than just a package. It’s all about what people think of your product. That’s how pet rocks became such a hit. It was the whole story behind it. It wasn’t just a rock. It came in a box with air holes with a care booklet with care instructions on how to make it sit and play dead or attack. (Never owned one so I’m guessing) lol

But they managed to make people think it was much more valuable than the average rock through branding, marketing, and advertising. So they made millions.

When did you purchase them because that is the old way we shipped tips in the past?

We changed to a pre-racked set of 50 packs of tips that align over our 50 packs of carts to cap all at once using a simple leather press.

When thinking of automation, we rarely think of a design that encompasses every manual workflow into a single system.

We think modularly in the event of maintenance and overall simplicity to operate.

We have created an customized automated labeling machine for our cartridges, allowing clients to avoid costly and time consuming custom print jobs on carts from China.

We have created box folding and inner package insertion for clients, allowing them to source unfolded box packaging to minimize shipping costs.

Happy to send you video of our machines in operation via DM.

Our factory partner in China is Shenzhen Yuto, they are one of the world leading packaging suppliers with over 60 engineers who create automation solutions for enterprise clients.

Shenzhen Yuto produces up to 75% of the packaging for Apple, with other major clients being Starbucks, Dyson, British American Tobacco, China Tobacco, etc.

We mostly only offer customized automation solution to select enterprise clients as many of our smaller clients aren’t there yet.

The REAL AVD is now AVEO.

But then

“It wasn’t just a rock. It came in a box with air holes”

Because it’s both. You’re right.

What if your brand was “Two Bucks Less” . Plain, most affordable packaging. The unsexy packaging explains to the customer that the product is great by itself and this move increases access by reducing cost.

We got them in March. That doesnt seem old to me at all. No one even offered a different option.

Would have been nice for them to be easier to use. Even a jig to help would be great. We do them all by hand now.

Hmmm. Then I suppose maybe you were sold old inventory, which is the rumor mill.

When we split up with Next Level, we had produced in excess, an extra 3.5M units of AVD.

Chances are, they are trying to clear out old inventory as we had updated the way we pre-rack and ship tips now.
