I never degassed solvent but I did do argon bubble and blanket and I don’t really think oxygen has a notable driving effect to d9 or d8. Eventually we stopped even though I liked the idea of having an inert blanket in the reactor in case of a spark.

Using pTSA or clay as a catalyst.

Given that O2 solubilty in hydrocarbon is very poor, you likely degassed your whole system after renewing the headspace a few times only with inert gas.

All people who reported their anoxic experiments here eventually produced high D8. Same goes regarding H2O.

@Franklin I believe the only determining factor is the nature of the catalyst. Those that produce easily d8 are not good for d9.

I havnt noticed a difference either . Pyophorics are a different story and require additional steps with inert gas . most of us here already have experience with these reactions . How many times has this topic been discussed now?
