So first thing we were going to be making distillate carts using straight distillate and adding terps. No cutting agents (unless its needed to make it flow better?) Also we wanted to make concentrate carts too. Like using live resin, terp sauces, shatters ect.
So I got just a couple questions I hope you could help with?
Is there a well working filling machine that you can recommend? Ive been considering 50 shot, duke thompson, or cooljarz.
What about for cart capping? Is the thompson duke capper good or should i get something else?
For mixing terps into distillate is the Thinky ARE 310 a good idea? or is there better options?
I have seen the True Terpenes threads and know that the viscosity is bad news. Is there a better terpene brand with good âCannabisâ flavor?
Lastly for putting BHO/PHO into tanks do you usually have to add something to make it a little more liquid so itll work right in the cart? If so whats the best option?
Thanks to anyone who can answer some or even all these questions!!!
@qma <---- the fucking man for filling carts.

Not many of us are fans of cutting agents here, really not necessary imo. Play around w/ different mixtures from 6-12% terps reintroduced and you will have good flow.
Would love to hear others experience w/ cart fillers, we are still rocking glass 100 mL syringes and hand filling until we get into our facility lol
Most of our caps are screw on so we just use the gator bits to screw them down.
As far as mixing there are many options, I use
This and a heat gun do a pretty good job of homogenizing the terps and are a fairly cheap set up.
We primarily stick with Floraplex for our terps, I feel they do a pretty good job differentiating strains. They have helped us win some awards as well.

The shatter works better decarbed otherwise youâll probably end up buddering up. if you donât do a really good job dewaxing youâll end up with charred garbage around your intake holes. As long as you use good carts with large 2.0mm aperatures distillate doesnât need anything other than terpenes to achieve the desired viscosity. If your doing large numbers of carts you should look into a homogenizer and hotplate for mixing the distillate for better consistancy from cart to cart. @qma has allmost all your filling equipment needs covered, from cart filling rigs, to the actual carts themselves. Heâs been through a ton of different kinds and knows his shit.

The 50 shot ainât bad, but you gotta keep the air out. The Cooljarz option seemed nice and consistent, but not necessarily the most time efficient option. Thompson Duke doesnât look too bad, but Iâve never had a chance to see how well it integrates with other styles of cartridges. Both options that arenât the 50 shot seem a bit on the pricy side to me. If weâre considering those might as well look at the Convectium 710 Shark unit. @qma to my understanding has a 1L reservoir unit available thatâll put the 50 shot to shame, I highly recommend it if youâre going the hand held route.
Capping comes down to what cart youâre choosing, and to a degree the filling did too. The short and sweet on this end of it is twist vs press. If youâre going twist they make drill bits specifically for our purpose, which both have the benefit and negative of being able to grip the cap at different strengths if you will, but a universal socket can suffice. If weâre talking press caps youâre looking at either a hand vice/c clamp, a large pair of pliers, a manual press(donât want to crush em), or even a hand held press designed specifically for our purposes. Most of those items can be picked up at local hardware stores, but the industry specific unit, HED CCell press, can be picked up on Amazon or cheaper directly from China.
That Thinky looks nice, but might be overkill. Iâm actually preparing a thread to debate some homogenization concepts so Iâm going to leave this question open, but there are definitely going to be cheaper options for mixing your solutions.
@FloraplexTerpenes carries a good line of products, but âcannabisâ flavored may not be really accurate for their lines, though they are extremely palatable. There is always CDTs like Blue River terps, but theyâre costly. I know there a few companies out there working on really gassy flavors. I can say TTs is going to give you mostly piney results, and TerpNation ainât bad, but their packaging doesnât promote longevity on shelves.
As @that445guy mentioned, when converting your non distillate products into carts its going to be important to winterize first. Decarbing will remove some of the nuisance of your concentrates, but youâre adding terps anyway so the headache with crashing it prevents is worth it in my opinion also. Also, as he mentioned, with quality carts with 4x2mm holes you donât need anything but concentrates and terps.
Hope that helps.

Whatâs up man how many carts are you looking to fill??We are currently partnered up with Convectium who carries Filling/capping machines. They also carry hardware, I am not sure what carts you are using right now but I do know they will be able to cap ccell carts which is huge. Please let me know if you have any questions⌠Thanks
