2xz-2 vac pump microns

Haha. Don’t. Every time I swing one around I feel my back getting weaker. I can’t take at my old age.

Just grabbed it 2 days ago. Owner said it pulls down to 5 micron.

Will a Edwards 1.5 rotary vane vacuum pump work for a 2 liter SPD kit?

It may work but will be abysmally slow at 1.5 cfm. @superhotgen

I think @Roguelab recommends something like 5 cfm per liter of system capacity.

Wait a minute… these pumps actually work on oil?

The only vaccuum pump i have ever seen is the one that came with the rotovap, but that thing aint need no oil! :–)

So to do SPD i need a monster that works on oil? no workarround here eh? So that think actually should be outside i presume for ventilation or so? If it runs on oil, it must be spitting out fumes

I run my spd indoors w/o any smell issues.

lol these things are huge. What brand is this? I presume you need to buy extra parts to be able to run it indoors?

Man i am going to need to rent a location outside of the city to run these things quietly without people going to start asking question :')

It’s not loud at all. And this pump is actually small compared to some 150# Edward’s I’ve seen.

This trivac is quieter than my welch wobl I use for filtration and my rotovap.

These trivac seems fairly prices second handed :–) I see everyone talking about CFM tough, but that abriviation never seems to turn up in the specs

Markttplaats has a beautifull one right now for 2 liters spd leybold trivac 16 with hydrocarbon heater and mist filter priced at 1200 think you should get it for less when I see you tomorrow hopefully I’ll explain
The pump is silent and good pulls full vac

I just scored a rebuilt alcatel 2021i for 1028.00 shipped

Cfm stands for cubic feet per minute
Most often the number in the model of the pump refurs to that with leybold and Edwards pumps
This number can only be reached with 60 hertz so to get that done a frequency modulator is used for our current rating is 220 V and 50 hertz in the Netherlands
But without it the pump is still perfect

I am afraid that is a little over my budget, but somehow i have the feeling the vacuumpump is the most important part of the setup

If i understand correctly, the CFM of the object in this picture, is 5.8?

Just bought Alcatel 2021i on eBay was $440 with warranty that’s my suggestion👍

YES the vacuum pump is the most important part
When buying a pump it comes out handy to have a vacuum gauge at hand
And check the pump before buying
For used pumps often do not reach full vac and a rebuild is gonna cost extra
That is if you are picking it up yourself

Yes cfm is 5.8 at 60 hertz
So around 5 at 50 hertz
