The new mantra is scale or die
And these are not fit for a scaled operation
A chineese build freezedrier with 250kg ice capacity is around 45K
A European. Build unit around 90k
Parallel is also a valid method of scalingā¦
Those are simply too expensive per unit for that trick in the current market
Wouldnāt an array of vac ovens hooked to the same codltrap give the same results with flowers ?
Pretty muchā¦
As freeze dried ?
Ish. The vac ovens would need to be able to get down to freezing temps and fluctuate slightly as the condensation is pulled toward the outer edge of the chamber and ices up. God I wish that was the case. I mean it could absolutely be done at warmer temps but Iām assuming the FDing is done to avoid even even slightly close to decarbing at higher temps.
Iāve done a ton of āfreeze dryingā on both plant and fungal biomass WITHOUT freezing first. Things freeze fast if you donāt ADD heat.
If you freeze your biomass before adding, and maybe warm things up as you approach end point, my $ says you can get reasonably close.
Got both? Try itā¦
They actually live next to eachother. Iām gonna need dry ice for the cold trap part though at some point. Been wanting to set that up and use it at some point to see what itāll pull
And you guessed it. I do have a bit of FF
If you sucking at rm tempā¦and evaporative cooling kicks in the moment you vaporize waterā¦
I mean any colder and it would be impolite
But usually my general MO is letting the freezing cycle start and getting that fucker down hella cold before I add frozen material on frozen trays
Is it cold in here or are you just please to see me?
I did the same process as my hash on some really nice FF stuff to see what would happen and it really came out nice. Had that styrofoam-y consistency but the terps were loud and it smoked pretty great
A freeze dryer is simply a vac chamber and a cold trap in the bottom and a drain. The material is frozen beforehand, and the cold trap is only here to capture the water.
One can speed up the drying process by applying some heat on the material during the process.
Bumping to see if thereās any additional interest
I have interest. Want to discuss logistics.
DMād you
@Butane - Iām interested in a few. Iām in the LA are. Please call or text 310 666-7665.
Thanks,
M
4 left and ready to go, let me know if youāre interested these are going to go fast
This is what I think too but I have a hard time convincing friends. They say it tastes green but I think itās just fresh and preserving mono terps, unsuited for their classic tastes. Iām like fine, more for me anyways!
