How do you buy a chiller that big, install, only use a few times before selling? That’s insane.

What was the application this was used on?

I would never be able to make use of it, as we basically never need to be much below 0°.

And I don’t have enough spare 480V amps on my transformer.

… but that doesn’t stop me from wanting this.

Yeah pretty insane, these guys thought they were going to make a whole lot of CBD crude and never got there with it. Regardless it’s a pretty sweet unit if someone big enough has a use for it they will entertain offers.

So then this was being used for bulk ethanol chilling then I imagine? Thanks for the response!

Exactly bulk chilling they had it looped on a plate exchanger and a couple of jacketed and insulated tanks.

Used chillers like this go for about 20% their original purchase price, if not even less.
I know it’s not used, but after commissioning (installation/hookup/filled with fluids) it is considered used, in all warranty purposes.

Incredibly high risk of something getting damaged in transit, after getting it installed and moved to a final home.
Don’t ask me how I know that :man_shrugging:t5:

Corrosion starts to set in within 6 months if you’re anywhere other than a dry/desert state, and your compressor will not be warranty-able after this much transit/movement after the initial commissioning occurred.

Draining the on board tanks and flushing with DI water is crucial to avoid internal corrosion from beginning. Most sites never do that with used chiller like this. Set and forget. When resold I have seen chillers with their copper heat exchangers nearly fully shot, either with lime/corrosion buildup, or leaks between the refrigerant loop and the thermal transfer fluid…

Similar air cooled 100kw/hr units go for $130-175k new.
I have a few clients I have supplied similar units to.
New and used…

Good luck with this sale.

Someone would probably pick it up for closer to $45-80k, but in this market likely closer to the $45k area.

I don’t think anyone in the north America region will need this un the cannabis sphere anytime soon, getting real tough for new challengers to join the game.
