Our “gemstone” line uses scalloped tubing and has a really nice prism visual effect when looking through it. It looks sexy but is actually 100% functional. The grooves provide extra surface area. Glassblowers usually have do blow bubbles, rings, etc. to make regular tubing have more surface area so the scalloped tubing actually cuts out some labor.
I’d rather make other common artsy things scientific than make the scientific stuff “heady” or artsy.
