Wood cutting/burning thread

Yeah the 661’s that you can get rn are 91.1cc. Beast of a saw.

They are fun on occasion, but nothing I would ever need. A 462 would comfortably cut anything for me. Even the 362 is plenty powerful probably, but it’s nice not to have to cut from both sides.
Curious how you sharpen chains. I still use a pferd file that has a guide and takes down the rakers at the same time (same as the Stihl I believe). It’s just a hand file/jig but I’m pretty fast with it and like it.

I have one of these. Have Had it since right after I got my saw. Love it. Once it wears out I’m going to get the Oregon branded one.

I know some guys who are super good at hand filing and swear by it, but I’m not one of them. For what I do this thing works great.

Those work great. We have a cheaper version of that unit from HF.
Screw the old way of sharpening. Carry extra sharpened chains makes for a better day in the bush

That’s exactly what I do. I have 4 chains for each of my bars.

Yeah, I have several chains for each bar/saw, but still hand sharpening. I’m actually pretty fast but certainly wouldn’t mind one of those grinders. You use full comp chains? I love how fast they cut but they don’t like dirty wood. Don’t use the anti kick back chains as they are quite a bit slower. Have to watch it on the plunge cuts though.
