Do you mix all the cold trap terps you get during a run into one vessel? Also what’s your column temp?
I wouldn’t put this on YOUR skin! BHO extractions. But I only get the shit starting material. We don’t make disty out of the good stuff.

Yeah, I pretty much throw it all together from different batches. My standard parameters are 162c evap and 70C condensor. Our unit is a Precision CDU, all glass.
If you’re saying you only get the shit material to run and you’re also combining a bunch of different batches, I would fathom a guess that those are your primary reasons for the smell.
But why would anyone use quality flower for disty?!?!
Even quality trim results in poor terps.

Quality in → Quality out my friend. Even if you don’t wanna use top notch buds for extraction, don’t use bottom-of-the-barrel product either. Also truth be told if you’re looking for terps to add to a vape mix, the cold trap is not where I’d start looking.
@CannabinoidChemist is probably correct as well about residual solvent, but I work with ethanol instead of butane so that’s our of my area of expertise.

The first episode of my first season is the ethanol extraction and post processing overview. It is an overview, but a very technical one. Pull terps first then decarb, then you can do a crude run. after distillation you can add terps back in.
