Very similar. One is active one is passive. Backfilling is passive because the gas is simply sitting in the oven. The pump is not actively pulling. Filling with an inert gas can also allows for much more rapid heat transfer. Sweeping is the method I use, it is an active method. You would have your N2 hooked to a low pressure regulator (1-15 PSI) which is connected to the vent inlet on your oven. As you begin to pull vacuum you use the nitrogen to knock down the muffins created continuously. This dramatically increases surface area for evaporation all while maximizing your potential purge space. You can use vertical space for more shelves rather than big muffins.

It’s a misconstrued thing saying that terps just jump all the way out at that temp. Or any temp at that. Will lessen yes but those base terps which make up the main flavor are hard to shake without distilling
