Are your dreads even heady enough if they weren’t formed with BHO?

Surprisingly has no affliction with my name. Neither does princess bride, or the silk road.

I’m confused by this… I was speaking of wooks dreads. After hearing your story I imagined some wooks forming dreads from bhosplosions or their dreads picking up some solution while smelling the solvent rich blend that is fresh pour and because of a lack of cleaning solvents around them. I think your name having Dred in it just happens to be a coincidence on this one.

Aaahhh. Yea I thought that’s what you meant

AKA: Rasta_Pirate… Mon…

For the record, (and as I thought): dred / extreme fear or anxiety about something that is going to happen or might happen: a dred of drowning.

That’s why I’ve never considered “rasta_pirate” before
In a funny twist of fate, dread can also have the same definition…

I had $18,000 worth of CO2 extract literally explode from a cheap 4L Erlenmeyer flask while winterizing via vacuum filtration while giving a tour to the local Epilepsy Foundation. There were about 8 of us in the room and literally everyone had oil all over ourselves and all our clothing ruined. People were coughing and spitting and rubbing their eyes. It was complete panic and then I proceeded by bursting into uncontrollable laughter once understanding what actually had happened. The oil marks are still present in the ceiling, walls and epoxy flooring. We ended up giving everyone some money to replace their outfits some days later.

Oh, i remember a good one. A lab i was in used to use an electric griddle to warm up oil (using a water bath). However the “water bath” part didn’t get communicated to a certain tech, who tried to heat up a 2L can of undecarbed RSO directly on the burner. Explosive decarb ensued, and then the oil overflowed and started to ignite on the burner surface, filling the whole room with thick smoke and getting everyone inside high AF in the process. I immediately swooped in and got the whole mess under the hood then evacuated everyone. Got pretty gassed myself.

Luckily I can’t think of anything sketchy involving butane, just a couple small little leaks from not torquing down enough.
But once I was winterizing a keg of ethanol oil. We used to drop in dry ice and close it off to build pressure and keep it cold. My worker said it was done, apparently the gauge broke with probably 5gal left inside, and when I opened the valve I got blasted in the face with a few gallons of -40+ decarbed oil. I swallowed quite a bit and was completely sticky with oil. I took an ethanol shower. Couldn’t open my eyes so had to get guided to the shower. About 20-30 minutes later I feel like I’m starting to get really high/drunk. Then realized all the oil was decarbed, and I drank ethanol, so basically a suuuper concentrated tincture. I was fuuucked up for like 2-3 days. And not the fun kind of fucked up
Another time I was cleaning a dab rig while we were running. I always use acetone to clean my glass. So my rig was like 60% full of acetone. I thought I rinsed it out and put in distilled water so I decided to take a dry rip…holy shit. I felt like my lungs down to my stomach were straight on fire and couldn’t breathe, was immediately throwing up and dry heaving. That one rung my bell for a solid day or two. Gnarliest head ache I’ve ever had

Acetone rips are the worst, I did that once too. Never again though

Was building pressure intentional, or just a by product of a bad method?

It was actually intentional. We were told to use n2 to help get the oil through the filter paper. We were also having trouble keeping the keg at at least -40. So that idea was suggested. It did speed things up though @CallipygianDabs

That does make more sense. I’m not keen on the idea, but I totally didn’t pick up you were using the CO2 pressure to push through a filter in the closed “system”

I’ve eaten a facefull of resin… just a smaller one. It’s not great.

Glad you were safe after someone else set you up for it.

One of the first labs I worked at had a dude there previous to me. He wasn’t the brightest, apparently. I should have recorded the video. He was heating the bottom of a large beaker with a heat gun. It had a good amount of ethanol saturated crude in it. He was wanting to get the last of the alcohol out to do whatever it was. He got it hot enough to combust when he was setting it down on the freezer. The ceiling, especially the freezer, and the floor were all burned. He wasn’t fired, either.
