You could probably just tee off a capillary line from right before the diverter valve to an old HPLC detector. It’d take some fancy programming to make that really function well, but you could probably very easily have it switch the valve any time the output signal is greater than 5% of baseline or something.

I mean remediation on that scale is worth sticking an operator in front of to watch for absorbance changes, a simple pump switch to the next collection vessel would suffice whilst developing the software (not my department lol)

That just sounds like a more annoying and complicated LLE. Also, I don’t know what solvent would be immiscible with SCO2
a colleague of mine prefers it to critical co2 chromatography for T remediation, but yea its pretty much a “dark art” but is a cross b/t LLE and distillation. Super cool stuff, but can total see how process dev would be daunting especially if its ones first go at the process

I’m wildly curious about that.
But also just co2 chromatography seems pretty straightforward. You’ve got a variable polarity based on pressure so you probably don’t even need to be super picky about your stationary phase if you’re willing to spend the time dialing in parameters

In theory you could just run a ton of solvent through until you get a first fraction, run it until nothing else comes out. Then up/down the pressure to your next fraction. It’s kinda running blind, but probably feasible. Something to sample in line is obviously better.

I think the issue with running most of these systems as legit SFC is that they won’t run the CO2 polar enough to elute our goodies in a remotely reasonable amount of time. I think you either need a gradient entrained added or a system that can do 10 ksi+. Or just turn it into a big prep HPLC

I imagine it would just blow everything right throw at low pressure though. You’d almost have to start at high pressure and drop in but that’s… Weird. I imagine there’s an appropriate stationary phase that might work better than C18 but I bet it’s $$$. The entrainer injection might not be a big deal to work out honestly, I bet we could whip it up for less than the rp media for a 10L column costs anyways lol

Consultant needed for D8/D9 sep or compliant D8 conversion. TIME SENSITIVE. I have 15 years of experience and work daily as a consultant and high end HPLC analytical lab rat. I recently had a very time-sensitive offer for me and one other consultant to come in and show a team how to make compliant D8.
In full transparency, I have 2 methods to make D8 that are completely different. I think my numbers are impressive with Zero CBD remaining, very little CBN (almost non detect), D8 usually in the high 70’s or 80’a and D9 THC in the single digits (sometimes as low as 1%). I am looking to improve on this, I need to get that D9 down lower or to zero if possible.
I am willing to pay for the consultation and other possible arrangements can be made (profit share etc) the customer has the contract, this has been verified and is 100% real and time is of the essence. I need to find the right SOP in the next few days.
The winning partner would have to have an SOP that rivals the ones I already have, NDA’s can and will be signed and if we feel like a combination of our methods might work the best, then we can determine the best course of action. If your method is best and you can make Zero THC D8, then we can explore a payoff, or a binding LOI requiring us to purchase a certain amount to D8 from your lab.
