Aerating will bring out a little lighter color as well as sharpen the overall profile. While allowing for a more homogeneous look & texture prior to curing. I’ll go as many as 3 times before a final cure for over 5-16 days depending on what I’m going for.
As far as for carts that’s really a depiction of how you’d like to do them tbh. You can mechanically separate the thca & terps on your press at very low temps with high pressure & then decarb your solventless thca & reconstitute the terps, or you can jar tek it and sweat the terps off then separate them by either spinning them or further “sweat sheath” tek to pull them off, or lastly go full on Jam & pull your sauce the same way & formulate from there.
If you do carts the lazy way to just be able to call them rosin carts & just full on decarb some press you’ll get a okay profile but will not compare to formulating one properly. I just suggest as much filtrsrion as possible for as clean & clear of a product as you can prior to carting up.
Honestly, i’ve found the microplaning doesn’t really destroy them as long as they’re dried in the proper temp (not very hot, not too cold, like 60f or so) - really the big thing that gets at your terps is just the exposure to oxygen in the first place which is why HRs became really big
I usually do 32 micron double bagged presses (32 micron inside of another 32 micron) - you could press that again and re-filter it (i’ve done it before, myself) but your issue is going to be getting that collected ball of rosin into the second bag - If I remember correctly on how I did it I think I froze the ball of rosin before I put it into the new bag so it didn’t get all stuck inside of there. Personally I go straight into the lowest micron I can get my hands on and press away straight out of hash
Fuck yeah my man! First things first, run your diagnostic tests to make sure it pulls/holds vac well.
After that, go to your menu where you can configure your dry times/temps and get it down to 35f or lower depending on the strain. I usually hit 35 but don’t see much difference in running it lower really. I personally like to put the already frozen solid hash in there and run it for maybe 8-10 hrs for the initial freeze and then for the final dry I usually hit it for 12 hours - by the time everything is all said and done it’s normally ran for about 30-32 hours
Thanks always know the man rule fire in fire out. But this is about how far I can get I don’t know to much of what to do after the press throw it in the freezer or refrigerator, do I whip it, oven it? Looking for quality.
Well, as i’m not normally very in-depth about post processing because it really is so open ended anyone can steer it anywhere, I will say this - when people talk about cold curing, usually it’s closer to a room temperature cure than cold as if you toss a jar in the fridge it’ll pretty quickly stop whatever is going on under the hood. I have good luck keeping things around 60-70f for my cold cures - just remember to keep the jars closed as much as possible - try not to open them at all because the terps are super volatile in the beginning and will also lend to getting a nice wet and loose cold cure
Very simple to learn, fire in of course, wash with very very minimal ice in the wash meaning cool your wash water prior to adding it, I mean super cool that bish. Wash without beating material up excessively, pull 45-120 & allow a maximum of 1/2” thick layer of wet hash to start well to simply put it freeze. Mind you use a freezer with a very tight seal & no frost build up. Keep a dessicant present in the freezer it’ll help. Allow for 5/7 days of a total freeze, you’ll notice color lighten as moisture has left. On day 4 flip the hash so you expose moisture from below to be released & removed. Once no moisture is “ present” you obviously still have some very minimal water content to it but you’ll be able to feel the dryness of the hash itself. You can then microplane & allow for 4-5 more days of curing in the freeze. After you are satisfied with the texture & dryness, you’ll need to temper to a low temp around 50-58° and allow for a cure to happen. Then whip it after a few days.
