Residual solvents

Aloha,

As I start to produce various types of BHO products I was interested to know what is considered “respectable” residual solvent levels for various products. There are states where 800ppm is the limit (seems high) vs states where 5000ppm is the limit (seems incredibly high). My target is obviously as low as possible, but I imagine there is a difference from shatter to let’s say sauce. I’ve asked multiple extractors and gotten answers all over the board. What do you guys think? What have your RSA results been with various products?

there is some discussion on the subject over here: Solvent Removal Questions (How to know its finished?)

what is your mandated level?

Thank you for the link! 800 is the state limit for butane

Then 800 is good.

aim for compliance.
aim as low as you can.
ask a stranger how you did (3rd party analytics).

compare the quality and required effort.

make a decision about where you would like to be.

ideally with a wide enough margin from mandated levels that even when you miss, your extracts are still compliant.

it’s been a long time since I had to hit mandated hydrocarbon levels, but I recall that my definition of “done” was about 50% of state mandated level… 200-300ppm.
