I have been thinking oabout using hexane as main solvent in a 3:1 ratio weight/weight of biomass. Adding first the hexane and then CO2 to desired pressure and then start the run. How long are your run times per lb compared to super critical co2 only?
Generally you can reduce the extraction times by 4x using CXE. Your cycle time will depend on how long it takes for the Co2 to rinse the hexane out of the biomass.

Seems like it would be faster to use co2 to reduce the amount of liquid solventused, off gas the co2 and then to rotovap.

Essentially what i’ve been doing. Takes a long ass time to dial it in right, but it works shockingly well. I would much rather do it all in-line with an ethanol metering pump thought.
I thought about trying CO2 expanded pentane, then thought better of it. I don’t have a C1D1 pod. Hexane could work, but needs to be purged to the same extent as butane.
Edit, oops, never mind
