Happy to help! Hoping to see a lot more 0ppm residuals across the country. I was using this tech with an AI Elite. Very similar to the cascade. I always keep the regulator around 1-5 psi and you can increase or decrease from there, almost never saw a need to get over 12 psi at the regulator.
Appreciate this!
Hey man thanks a lot for this
Just want to confirm a few things before I try this I know might be stupid question lol but I don’t wanna mess up.
(step 8 - 9)
As I break / release the vac do I slowly release nitrogen till the Hg of the vac reaches 0 then close the nitrogen off ?
Also
when I do the flip in my case I’m doing shatter .
And get the slabs acclimated at 94f
The shatter will stil be pretty solid , is it okay to still pulls full vac ? And at this point the bubbles are not rising as much how much nitrogen should I release ? 5 psi 10 psi ?
Thank you again
Correct! I usually hold my handles in the open position and as soon as the vac is neutralized they crack open. Then turn off your nitrogen.
If the the shatter is a particularly stable variety, I tend to heat the slabs a bit more. 96-102F was not uncommon for finishing stable varieties. Some folks scoff at these temps and instead run their vacs 4-6 days at 90-94F. I’ve found running a bit hotter with dramatically less dwell time in the oven produced superior product and 0ppm residuals.
And as for flipping we flipped every 12 hours, for a total of 3 flips. Finishing the slab at 48 hours purge time.
Remember the nitrogen does the vast amount of work in the initial muffin stage, continuously knocking down the muffin to dramatically increase purgeable surface area of the slab. We would do about a sweep every three hours following the initial purge. 5 psi is plenty
