Membrane filtration for Fats, Lipids, Chlorophyll and Ethanol removal

So what is the lowes nm filter size and will any of these crossflow ceramic membrane filters remove pesticides as well?

I don’t use ceramics, but my color remediation membranes have successfully remediate the following pesticides:

Bifenazate
Malathion
Pyrethrins
Trifloxystrobin
Fludioxonil

Piperonyl Butoxide was not able to be remediated. But 5/6 of ones tried so far isn’t a bad track record.

I believe that @MagisterChemist should be able to sort you out, and he might even have some membranes on hand. I have a relationship with the OEM but they have an MOQ and I don’t want to step on anyone else’ toes here.

Not sure what scale you want to winterize at, but I set up a 2540 skid with winterization and desolvation back several years ago, and it was painfully slow compared to the typical throughput of 4040 membranes. I was just playing with some very dilute crude etoh and it took well over an hour to try to cram 25 gal through it.

not super large scale this is from our ā€œwasteā€ stream, 95% of our operation doesnt need the skid. This will be used on our HTE after we distill the terps out then we want to winterize and then distill the cannabinoids.

Very roughly, a 4040 should be about 4x the throughput of a 2540, and an 8080 should be about 4x the throughput of a 2540.

Lots of caveats and provisos to that of course, but it’s not bad as a rough scaling estimate.

Also, it is my understanding the membranes that I’m thinking about are WAY faster than anything else on the market for winterization in alcohols.

I know that some other membranes run substantially faster with methanol than ethanol, I don’t know if that’s the case with these ones or not, as I never tested them with alcohols.

I’d sell the one I built. It’s not the prettiest thing, but I’ve had it sitting in storage for a while. Only thing is that I am located in east TN.

That’s an old picture, I’ll look for a completed pic. HMU if you are interested, let’s make a deal!

Nanofiltration is the best method in my opinion for removing fats lipids and chlorophyll! Our Ethanol/Methanol nanofiltration skids utilize Synder membranes (2540), and our new limonene nanofiltration skid will utilize evonik membranes!

^Link if anyone is interested

FYI this type of piston pump is generally not recommended to be used for pumping sanitary/food grade processes. Because of the design of the pump and seals, there is a non-zero chance that some amount of the pump oil can migrate into the process product. There are much more appropriate pump designs to use for this type of equipment.

I have graphene oxide membranes for sale now that are much more effective than brands such as Synder, microdyn, etc that use PES or PAN for winterization. One membrane will do the work ten did before. I will pepsi challenge anyone on this. I also have exclusive rights to distribute this in the US. If you have someone else’s membrane skid and are doing ethanol winterization with it, I will send you a free one and prove to you that nothing else compares.

I’d love to purchase one from you!! do you have them in 2540?
