@Knobi. You just made my day. That’s exactly what I bought. Thank you for breaking that down for me. Much appreciated.
Does calcium acetate go with part A calcium nitrate or with the part B phosphates and sulphates? Thanks
Got this recipe from some old coco heads on IC mag, it is very cheap and plants always respond well to it in coco during flower. Uses old general hydroponic 3 part but only 2 of the parts:
6ml micro and 9ml bloom per gallon of water, with calmag added as on the bottle every other watering. Just this the whole flower cycle and flush for 10+ days. Can up the bloom to 10ml towards the end. Also can scatter in fulvic and/or seaweed extract.
Had some great harvests with this in an ebb and flow table with coco/perlite 50/50. Super simple and cheap.
Also if using compressed coco, would recommend to rehydrate and wash 2x in calmag diluted as on bottle with pH adjusted water. Something about priming coco for ion exchange.
It goes with the cal nit. You don’t want to create calcium phosphate!
Ahhh the old head 6/9. That was the first nute regiment I ever tried in DTW coco. Definitely grew some plants.
Shit yeah!.. 69 it all the way. Good memories of growing some badass plants on the cheap.
Only really had problems when I tried reusing the coco for three times… That’ll get you some moldy plants.
hello first message
I worked with yara for a long time
calcinit 15.5 N 27.6ca
krystalon brown 3-11-38
Welcome @ricogrow.
Those Yara nutrients look great. Is that available in the US or EU only?
I came across this forum while looking for DIY recipes I was impressed by the professionalism of the people here
I give you a recipe that I intend to test tell me if it is viable
partA
cal nit 64,210g
potassium nitrate 43.68g
ferdtpa 2.72g
partB
sulphate mg 52g
mkp 17.9g
potassium sulphate 32g
trace element
with my tap water
that makes:
N 180 P40 K 360 Ca180 Mg53 S145 Fe 3
hi agtonik it looks a lot like your home masterblend
Can anyone direct me to a site or, tell me how to make a foliar spray using calcium edta or acetate? Thanks in advance.
Mix 3-5 grams cal acetate per gallon of water, add your preffered wetting agent and apply. Be prepared to smell like vinegar. Lol
Thanks. Does it really smell that bad? It smells like shit they used to cut coke with back in the 80’s lol!
Can anyone tell me if Haifa Grow clean polyphosphate, is safe to use from veg all the way thru flower? Does it contain NH4 or, is it only NO3?
Can I also ask is it necessary to taper down micros as I taper down the macros before harvest or, do I want to keep them the same elemental ppm in solution for the entire run?
Yes, you can. But it would be best if you kept the polyphosphate percentage of total phosphate at ~12.5% to 17.5% (the wide range is 10% to 20%). So you’ll need to include one or more orthophosphate sources MKP, PekAcid, MAP (useful to adjust NO3:NH4 ratio), or phosphoric acid. And remember that Growclean total P is 50% orthophosphate and 50% polyphosphate. It doesn’t include NH4:

It’s not necessary to taper micros or macros. But if you do taper macros, don’t worry about tapering micros.
Thanks @Ralf. I’ve been using the Grow Clean in conjunction with MKP ( I think the max for the Grow Clean came out to.8 grams per gallon of RO.)for my veg mix with pretty good results. I’ve read it binds Ca less than the straight orthophosphate. I wasn’t sure if whatever they use to keep the drip emitters from clogging would somehow be bad to use all the way thru a run. Maybe it’s somewhat beneficial and might keep the media free from excessive salt accumulation? I’m not extremely knowledgeable with this stuff.
I’ve always kept micros at the same elemental ppm throughout the grow till flush. Good to know I was doing something right lol!
Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what’s a good ratio of K : Ca for flower. If I’m looking to drop my Ca No3 say around week 2 of 12/12 from about 162 ppm of No3 to around 90 ppm, that gives me a 2.6 : 1 K : N ratio with my K being at 240 ppm. I’m running 164 ppm of Ca and 226 ppm of K in veg. That gives me a 1.39 : 1 K : Ca ratio for veg. I would like to bump up K to 240 around week 4 but, would like to drop N around week 2 to about 100 and further decrease to around 80 from about end of week 3. Decreasing my Ca No3 from 162 to 100 brings my Ca to about 125 ppm. Further decreasing N to about 80 will bring my Ca down to around 100 ppm. 226 K and 125 Ca is 1.8 : 1 K : Ca, and 240 K and 100 Ca is 2.4 : 1 K : Ca. Are these good ratios of K : Ca for flower?
