Lab1st Circulating Heaters Issue

So I’m getting 208v phase to phase off the breaker. Getting 122v when referenced to ground. I took a video of how it is crapping out. I will get a video of the input voltage as the heaters kick on. This time, the only thing on the panel that is running is this circulating heater.

Here is the voltage drop (or lack there of):

LOVE the replacement reservoir cap.

Fawk - what an odd issue though. The unit’s specification label says it expects 220V, but that shouldn’t be a problem. I have similar units running at my labs, and my units are receiving about 206-210v, but our units haven’t ever had this sort of error.

Maybe it’s not the electricity…?

I’ve attached some manuals here, which appears to have similar/same buttons as yours… Perhaps this will help!

Nah. i reckon you were spot on…it has to be the electrickery, and if it’s not the voltage, it’s the way it’s being wiggled.

If the devices really want 220V 60hz and not 240V then 205V should not be a problem.

122 and 122 should only = 205 if they are being wiggled in a very specific manner right?

rms is probably not the way to look at this.

At which point I’m over my head…

So, the plot thickens! The videos I sent were for the feed and discharge heaters. The condenser heater/chiller was originally throwing the same error so I focused on the feed and discharge. After throwing my hands in the air with those 2, I switched back to the condenser and the wiper body heaters. Noticed they were low and topped them off. They are humming right along at my set temp now. Okay, I just had to fill em up? Fine. I checked the fluid level on the feed and discharge heaters and they were at the proper fill line. Decided, fuck it, maybe their fill level on the gauge is off and topped it up higher. If I could just figure out how to clear that alarm, I’d like to test them and see if I was just being dumb and hadn’t given her enough juice. I have them unplugged right now so that the caps can discharge because it remembers the problem for a while after unplugging. Fingers crossed that it fixes the problem!

:rofl::joy::rofl:

Do the manuals @bgleason provided for the wrong units have anything to say on the matter? (I’ve had wins using the wrong manual in the past).

FWIW, we ran YHChem Heater/Chillers that had the exact same issue as these and looked exactly the same, down to the error code. We were never able to figure it out, but our Chinese tech had it narrowed down to some type of sensor issue on either the inlet or outlet of condenser, as it seemed to happen every time the condenser tried to kick on.

We were never able to figure out a solution for this issue other than shutting down the unit for 1-2 hours and letting it cool down before trying to run it.

@MedicineManHempCo Does doing any combination of starting recirc, turning it off and on again and then playing with the heat allow get the error to clear away?

Okay guys, I just pulled the security footage of me when I was originally setting them up, and found my problem:

Even though the fluid level was correct, I guess there was air in the pump? I opened the gate valve on the tops of both units while they were recirculating, and the fluid level immediately dropped. After letting it run a while and topping it off, I’ve got all my heaters working! Thank you guys SOO much for trying to troubleshoot my dumbass mistakes!

HAHA! Happens to the best of us, brother.
Glad that they are working now!

Once I get aquatinted with her more, I’m going to start an “Optimizing your wiper” thread similar to the rotovap thread. I’ve got some ideas that might make this thing mobetta, but I gotta have a benchmark to start from.

Well then…

Error A…1 == check for Air in lines 1st

good to know

Perfect. Now all I have to do is transmit that information back through time to 1-year ago me, brb.

This definitely tracks though. Those heaters were leaky, so it makes sense that air was getting introduced that way.

did you fill the reservoir all the way up, the way it should be? what’s the recommended fluid ml for operation.

i have a chinese chiller/heater and will throw a error before i turn on if i don’t fill that reservoir all the way haha, stingy bastard but its dependable. .
