Hydrocarbon Extraction Efficiencies

I only poured between soaks the first couple times I tried it, to make sure I’d get any kind of yield at all. The second pour was yielding between 5-20% of what the first pour did. Never tried a third soak, I’d be interested to a couple times but it’s not worth the time as far as my employer is concerned. I figure they’re probably right, but it’d still be cool to test it

@cyclopath meant to reply to you, messed up somehow

if you were only getting 5% on that second soak, I’d agree with you. if you’re getting 20% more, you actually need to go again…otherwise your employer is making decisions without data and is thus a fool.

We have found that the ratio style of extraction is not the best method to go by. Following a ratio only you are either over or under extracting pretty much everything that you run. Every bio is different and the solubility in your solvent changes with temperature and blend.

Propane can hold onto cannabinoids from about -60c or so to pretty much anything above. Below this it gets a little challenging for cannabinoids. For cannabis, we suggest a 70% propane to 30% butane mix to maximize on system efficiency. The longer chain of butane helps with solubility of various products at lower temperatures, while the pressure of propane maximizes recovery rates.

Consider sometype of coil/shell in tube condensor after your column - before your recovery pot.

A properly sized/setup heat exchanger will do so much for recovery times and the fact you have to flood/fill your collection pot 2/3rds(which is edging the fill capacity especially with a 40% propane ratio) to run the appropriate solvent.

This way you can still run -60 for purity but preheat it w.o biomass on its way to the collection pot.

Illuminateds wiped film will blow it out the water in terms of speed but that just depends on your thruput needs/budgets etc.

This is something we have been doing for a few years now and is included as part of our pending refrigeration patent. We use everything the system has to offer in every way. :love_you_gesture:

You have everything a system has to offer except post processing coas
