Yes it will absolutely hurt you if you are not careful. Soak for a couple days but not too long cause it can leech the glass.
This is how i clean my glassware in my academic lab.
Also if you make the solution slowly add vinegar to it to quench out the hydroxide before you pour down the drain. Add vinegar another acid until it stops bubbling when you add fresh acid
