Yeah I guess. I’m not saying it won’t work every time I use them I just think of my dad telling me to turn the faucet off lol.
But seriously if you use an aspirator recirculate with a glycol or something you might be able to get lower vacuum. That might be a benefit of using something fancy
Pretty sure water aspiratiors are limited in vacuum by vapor pressure of water.
The peristaltic pump idea is really creative.

Lol I do this with heptane all the time. If you hook up to a regular rotary vane vacuum pump you will definitely boil a good amount of hexane unless you’re very active with the blank off valve. I wouldn’t exactly advise it
Edit: this nomograph calculator tells me hexane boils at -67c at 1 torr… So if you walk away from that rotary vane vacuum pump you will have a problem:
Edit 2: remember, you don’t need or want deep vacuum for this. Going from 100 to 10 torr has minimal effect on the force applied to the liquid but a massive effect on the boiling point

Yes, even a water aspirator can start to boil hexane at room temp if you let it go deep enough.
