Help Growing

If you’re looking into organic growing and using dry amendments I highly recommend you read ‘Teaming With Microbes’. Do your plants a favour and take some time to research the soil food web. Theyll reward you more than you could imagine!

Here’s a basic recipe from Mountainorganics.net

50% Sphagnum Peat Moss
40% Humus
10% Biochar
8 cups per cuF Rock Dust
(Handful of worms per pot/bed)

Humus - essential you should use worm castings and a good compost like Malibu.

Fuck yeah buddy awesome tips here!

Really? Just peat based root plugs? I put the seed in there and water? Can you link me a good one to get?

You’ll want something with myco added, maybe pro mix…

Add your own mycos. Not all mycos is created equal.

Add myco to the root riot?

I dont add mycos to seeds, only clones, uppotting root plugs, or upots

These are best with cuttings. I went to just about 100% success using these

When adding mycos, you want it to contact your roots as much as possible. It doesn’t grow in the soil until it comes in contact with roots, beginning the symbiotic relationship.

I have a Hanna EC meter that has been working fine for close to 15 years. As far as EC vs TDS meters, I feel EC is the way to go. TDS is based off of EC, and can vary from one meter to another, while EC is always the same measurement. Here’s a conversion chart to give you an idea of what I mean:

Never bought a ph meter. Too much of a cheapskate, plus I don’t want to deal with calibration and storage solutions. The GH kit linked above is accurate enough for me, and super cheap and easy. For even cheaper and easier, I use Hydrion paper like this in the 5.5-8 range:
https://www.amazon.com/Hydrion-Chart-Dispenser-5-5-8-0-Range/dp/B00QLBVP74/ref=asc_df_B00QLBVP74/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312165944793&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=749966561410043284&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9018971&hvtargid=aud-801738734305:pla-761879527592&psc=1
Once you get used to your water source and nutrient combo, ph should be relatively predictable, and will vary a little anyhow, which is good to allow a wider nutrient availability. Anything to test ph is better than nothing, as long as you use it. Also good to test the ph of your runoff to get an idea of what’s going on in your media.

Run Jacks Professional hydroponics line using the Jacks 1-2-3 method and you’ll never PH again nor have to check PPMs.

Switched about a decade ago and will never return to “nutrient water”.

I do run some ancillaries along side (bennies and such) but, run it and see the difference.

i never had to ph when using canna nutes… dutch pro on the other hand i had to ph every time.root riots ftw as well .only lost a seedling when they did that weird thing where the Cotyledons aren’t there

Truth be told! haha I bought a digital ph tester when I started growing ~10 years ago. I still have the calibration fluid in their sealed containers lol. Never use it for growing

It’s all dependent on your starting water… I never use RO, just tap. Bubble it off for 24 hours and run.

I was running jacks for awhile, definitely a great product. I did switch over to mega crop granules though personally.

I like the extras they have compared to jacks, keeps a stable ph lil it, and it’s comparable in price. But jacks is a good choice for sure.

You can get a sample for pretty cheap to try out.

now you got me wanting to try that out, I like the ingredients and the price is beyond nice

I switched from jacks a little over a year ago. I use a tablespoon per 2 gallons of water. I add a bloom boost during flower, but don’t think I need to honestly.

My ph is between 6.1 and about 6.4 depending on time of the year. I only check periodically to humor myself.

It’s a pretty good nute for lazy people like myself lol

I just wanna clarify, when i said look up dragon fly eartj medicine compost tea recipes, i just meant to say look it up, you can grow the ingredienta or wild source them for much cheaper, or even buy in bulk from mountain rose organics, fronteer coop and starwest botanicals (are my go to for organic/wild plant powder).
They are a great company with awesome values and goals, if u got the money please support them but if u dont, u can grow all of it the year before and litterly have almost free nutrients

The easiest thing would be to use “just add water” dirt and just add water to it.

Ph adjust it if you need to but maybe you can get by without it.

I just found a guy local to me who has DEMETER certified biodynamic compost/soil mix. I bought 2 yards. We will see how it works…
