Yeah it sounds like maybe not worth the time but it would be interesting to see a world record for longest living cannabis plant. Or if someone ever managed to make a perennial strain that would be cool!

Hops are perennial, any reason to think some mutation couldn’t trigger hemp to act the same?

Every plant has the gene to go dormant, it’s just inactive in almost all of them. Well, maybe not every, but the vast majority of organisms we call plants.

I’d really like to see what photos would do since this would be more scalable if it did in fact yield something of value. Not saying autos aren’t scalable, I just think the ruderalis genetic might throw a wrench in things as they have their own life cycle altogether. I’d really like to see what the extract of hemp flowered for way too long would contain since that’d be the most valuable information right now.
For THC strains it would still be interesting for reference but hemp would probably be the most immediately valuable to members here. I just can’t help but think that all of the plant’s emergency mechanisms/last ditch efforts might influence something interesting in the cannabinoids (i.e. some unusual type of isomerization, natural production of minors in above average quantities, UV degradation, new esters, etc). That’s why I think it’d be a fun experiment. At the expense of some really old hemp plants that will most likely need to be mold-remediated.

I wonder if dormancy would be considered its own life cycle seperate from veg and flower
I had a friend who pushed green crack for 112 days, as I remember it tested at 19%, about 5% higher than it normally did at 56 days, only yielded 10% total additional weight for doubling the flower cycle though.
We made Dry sift , dry ice hash from plants we just didn’t get to harvest looks like plants in the pics. Gold look is the chlorophyll is dead.
The high wasnt extremely pleasant. Just put everyone to sleep in no time.
I used it rightly before bed.
