Failing for acetone - An explanation

Sounds like a valid approach.

Bump. This paper is fantastic and I’ve cited it multiple times to clients. Thank you for this work @SWELL

This happens if you purge you HTE too deep of vac and for too long. This is easily mitigated as well while achieving low ppms

How would sucking too hard INCREASE the acetone concentration?

How does sucking harder not remove the residual butane ?

If you haven’t seen these issues then you haven’t made a high enough terpene % fraction to have to worry about it

That is NOT an explanation of HOW…

But purhaps you didn’t read my question?

Best I’ve got (assuming your data is correct), would be that you’re simply ā€œrevealingā€ acetone by removing less volatile compounds.

Which seems like a stretch. Given how much other stuff one would have to evaporate in order to increase the acetone concentration by an order of magnitude (90%!).

Actually ā€œcreatingā€ acetone because the vac is too deep doesn’t make any sense to me.

Heating too long? Sure, especially in the presence of O2.

But sucking too hard? I’m dubious of a cause/effect relationship here.
