Wow Thank you
You have defenatly taken this to another level . Sorry to hear it took so much research but then again it seems you are content now so the effort was worth it
I am actually speech less
Thank you again to perfect a. Silly project into something that might be usefull for many
How about you tell us ??
Wizard !!
What’s your hunch ??
Will it come over when distilling ?
Thx
Yes that msds seems pretty harmless
It’s in all the sunscreens the tourists use. So this info is great for a class action lawsuit against all those reef killers.
It’s a dye for food too but that isn’t really in UV contact so…just curious for the sunscreen aspect
You sir are awarded the Rockstar medal of knowledge and sharing. Thank you!
What % cbn are you able to achieve?
Have you tried w/o titanium dioxide (if so how effective was it)
Have you tried with 253nm light and extended boiling (no TiO2)?
I am topping out at 25% or so probably because I get tired of watching and waiting, so I begin with 4 liters but my production does not stop. When I am finished I just distill and put the unreacted back in the device, top up with precursor and TiO2 and begin again. I have no idea how far this can be pushed on a non-production basis, I keep this going, I don’t do it in batches… Regarding what TiO2 forms, it forms nothing. It is a catalyst, pure and simple. It is also white pigment. So you know very quickly and easily if you have properly removed it all, because if you have not, it will cloud up your solution like nothing else! I recommend filtration and distillation. And for distillation I recommend a bunch of “3 way adapters”. You take your mantle up to 140C and wrap each 3 way adapter with separate pieces “heating tape”, each with its own supply… This system is extremely inexpensive and very effective for fractionation of cannabinoids! Cheers to all in this forum, the best forum for chemistry that I am aware of!
Thanks for your recent posts @Chemphox. Will you show us pics of your reactor, and distillation setup please?!

hope to have a reaction soon and pricing keep it posted
Greetings Lone Stiller:
I am sorry that right now I cannot post photos, but I may be able to. I will ask the man that I am working for currently, after the New Year, because I am off until then. So far I have only worked for former victims of cannabis legislation, and they tend to be a bit (over) cautious. But I can tell you very simply, the CBN reactor is noting more than a 5 gallon bucket, a QUARTZ reaction flask, 2ea. 25 watt UVC lamps from that my employer ordered from eBay, per my instruction, and it uses a 12V bronze gear pump also from eBay, with a power supply from the local RC Hobby Shop. And the distillation rig I put together for my current employer is just a bunch of 24/40 3-way adapters with heating tape high temperature Silicone RTV’d to each adapter. Each with its own separate power supply, and I have 100mm lengths of Vigreux Condenser, that I can put between adapters, with same heating tape wrapped around it, applied with high temp RTV. These are all controlled with $29 Variacs, also from eBay. The heating tape is the usual stuff, the highest temperature I could get on eBay again. So I promise that I will ask my current employer if I can take photos to post. But I cannot just do it! I hope that you understand, and I hope that you understand the delay! I know that photos are most helpful, but there is truly nothing special here, so if I cannot post, I hope that you understand. If I can, I will and I post under your name here!
I understand. Thanks for taking the time to write a lengthy response. Happy holidays @Chemphox
Nice!
Would adding oxygen difusor into boiling flask increase conversion rate and / or lower conversion times?? Granted that it was captured and recycled CLS (I haven’t taken the time to think about fire precaution). So from a basic perspective: oxygen and UV degrading with the TiO2
Would it Be possible To reflux in quartz boiling flask with heat and oxygen in addition to UV and TiO2 catalyst?
starting from CBD isolate
@Roguelab @Chemphox , actually the UVC lamp are dipped in the bucket with CBD and solvent prior to revovery, or trough the glass wall of the reactor, during reflux?
in my experience, exposing a thin film of distillate to o2 will be more effective and less hassle than a bubble diffuser.
This might be crack pot but:
@Roguelab
-Mix CBD with TiO2
(If crude/distillate is better - same but use that rather than isolate)
-pour slab on quartz glass plate
-install multiple slabs in vacuum chamber or retro fit vac oven
-use led or UVC short wave lights
These quartz plates are $50 and would allow light from bottom as well as top
Rather than nitrogen, flood box/oven with oxygen (note, I’m not suggesting you create a bomb here in fume hood)
using tubes you could design a system to recirculate oil over these with UVC lamps inside:
Holes in 100ct stainless pot to insert these quartz tubes
drip oil on top tube which drips to a second tube etc, recirculate oil with pump; introduce 02 to chamber; oil becomes thin film while on tube, high exposure to 02 close proximity to UVC lamp for maximum UV exposure
CBN Reactor.pdf (88.9 KB)
There is a product on the market easily used for that purpose. I saw a lab playing with one of these, but i don’t know what results they got.
@anon86230761, What do you think about possible TiO2/Oil mixture ratio for the crude/disty? 1:2?
1:3?
You’d have to ask @Chemphox about ratios of TiO2.
Sunscreens use 7.5-30% of TiO2 and zinc oxide with particle size of 20-150nm.
If he was able to do some small scale conversion assessment of diminishing return and how well it works against a UV with no catalyst base model.

I’ll come back to this later tonight - this might be helpful or not
I think this relates to some data on particle size etc
