Precisely cause obviously they’ll both show same peaks but conversions will show far fewer & extras that aren’t from regular distillation. That would be my only suit to follow, otherwise most can start blending them in batches to mimic, which I’m not against as long as the advertised is proper.
This isnt necessarily true
Try adding water to a d8 ptsa reaction and see if it makes “more” d8, it doesnt
That’s cause it washes the acid out of the rxn
How would water wash acid out of a reflux?
More water doesn’t influence d8 conversion as I’ve added water to my PTSA d8 conversion and it doesn’t change the rate of reaction (in either way, it doesn’t slow it or speed it up)
Ptsa is highly soluble in water.
Yes but if youre not removing the water it wouldn’t be removing the acid from the reaction
Diluting it though no?
Ptsa is such a strong acid diluting it isn’t going to do much good in terms of weakening its stength
The reason water is important:
When Lewis acids are doing their work on cbd, the ring closing step followed by the isomerization from d9 to d8 are both going to happen at a certain rate.
When water is added, the Lewis acid can begin acting like a bronsted acid and becomes more reactive in the water. This lowers the relative amount of d9 formed and increases relative amount of d8 formed.
Diluting doesn’t weaken strength just disperses a different rxn.
Bruh it makes 103%
You would think this but its not the case
Run the same reaction with PTSA and add water to one and not to the other
Youll get almost identical results from what I’ve seen
Also
This reaction goes cbd > d9 > d8,
Water doesn’t make less d8 form, it allows for the acid to deprotonate into the water which can cause the double bond to shift easier making the d9 >d8 easier, d9 is an intermediate between cbd and d8
I agree. I imagine that when you’re using ptosa to make d8, you’re usually providing more than enough acid to minimize the d9 present already. With water or without probably doesn’t matter much for the normal CBD to d8 reaction.
Even so, more PTSA = more D9.
So that’s saying that bronsted acids are better for high d8 low D9 reactions? Aka adding water better? Huh
I’ve never heard of an NDA restricting someone from showing a chromatogram. Sounds like the same excuse Donald trump uses with his tax returns.
I’m not doubting you @Cheebachiefextracts but I’d love to see a chromatogram.
Here’s one of mine mid conversion. I ain’t scared to show my progress. D8 is 7% there.
note: I just got a much more powerful stirrer and will be showing results soon.
Exactly, and we all know what a pathological liar he is.

You really that mad ain’t you? Enjoy the blue balls you’re getting from being so pissy. It’ll never help you in the long run to have the attitude that yourself does.
@densone I refuse to show it currently as it is property of this company & me under contract with them, I don’t feel like loosing my job cause ol boy above is riden for Biden.
I’ve said it once & this is the last time, once this company goes public with it & myself (sops) as their IP I will release all info for tests etc. till then I’ll dangle this in front of ol boy & let him throw his tantrums for the next 20yrs while he tries to continue to figure out how to be a decent human & a more thorough “chemist”.
