Have you sent the sample out to see what a mass-spec can make of it?
In order to see THCA on an FID, your chemist would have needed to derivatize to prevent decarb. if they ran the control and the derivatized peak is clearly derived from the THC peak (THC gets smaller in derivatized sample. Mole fractions add up correctly), then one has to wonder if you’re even dealing with distillate.
What was the ratio of THC to THCA? Is THCA in distillate a common occurrence? I would expect to see <LOD. but admit that I haven’t gotten to sending my stuff out for 3rd party yet.
Is your current hypothesis horribly botched CBD run or biomass/crude mislabelling?
if anyone is actually interested in a debate on the merits of various short path & molecular distillation methodologies maybe you could wander over here?
@cyclopath I told them to send a sample to our local ISO lab, when we get results I will post them. I requested the chromatogram from the tests but haven’t received them yet. I will post that as well when I get it.
I am definitely interested in that debate, sample prep tech in cannabis should hopefully become more standardized.
@QGA I will inquire about who the distributor/manufacturer was, I believe it was out of Maine. We had an influx of work to do before I left for Germany and they havent had a lot of time to get me all this data.
This thread has been really helpful and thought provoking. Thanks for all your answers!
