you need a non polar solvent. Hexane, pentane, heptane are the front runners.

Here’s a quick and dirty:
Mix 100 grams dist with 100ml ethanol. Put in a 500ml sep funnel.
Add 200ml of pentane
Add ~150ml brine water
Shake and let sit… Drain the bottom layer which will be ethanol and water and the middle layer which is your emulsion layer (the gunk).
Repeat numerous times with pH adjusted water.
When water runs clear, keep the top layer, recover solvent, done.
