120lbs butane tank

Sweet baby jesus I have a tank of this gas… Greaatttttt

If it only has a diptube, the only way to distil out of that tank is to flip it in its top, so the dip tube is in the headspace not in liquid.
Thats how normal tanks are/work.

CGA 555 valve is only used for liquid withdrawal; they always have dip tubes attached. CGA 510’s can be vapor or liquid withdrawal.

Damn I figured that

yep. wrong again. sorry about the misdirection, it wasn’t deliberate.

top port does apparently go to the vapor space, but you’re correct, it is designed for filling only.

the valves on the tanks we receive do have a secondary vapor port.

Is this an example of a vapor withdraw only tank? Can I use this to withdraw gas if that’s so?

I know eco green is supposed be dirty but it can’t be worse than bvv. Gonna distill it twice I think.

No, those tanks come with a diptube for liquid withdrawal.

Damn it

Just let the liquid, with all the black flakes, mystery oil, and whatever else all go into your collection while not heated with the vapor path to your recovery tank open and your recovery tank on ice. You’ll quickly find your collection full of butane. Then heat your collection to recover all the butane and thoroughly clean your collection before its next use.

This is very uncommon. No reason to avoid diptubes.

That’s easy enough. I guess I’ll do that and not worry about it anymore.

I can just distill once and the butane will be pretty clean?

The remains in the collection should give you a sign of you need to distill again. If there isn’t much stuff left over you should be good, but a second distillation of the butane certainly isn’t going to hurt anything
