100L rotovaps..... how the fuck?

I mean, sure, I did some digging and found the system you are talking about.
I don’t think that’s mainstream, despite the company being relatively large and used in mainstream industrial plants.

When I think mainstream, I think Buchi, Heidolph, etc…stuff you find in research labs, universities…

Thanks Cat!, and yes I was refering to the heating bath and not oil in the flask…

Respectfully disagree. I first learned glycerin was a terrible idea when building an immersion PC for cooling back in college. I second learned glycerin was a bad idea shortly after college when using said Heidolph to attempt to “distill things” under high vacuum.

@roguelab, your hands have better traction than mine I guess, because glycerin makes those balls super slippery. Dust and dirt gets caught in it making it gooy and disposing of it is annoying. Water is safer, cleaner, easier, cheaper, etc. If you NEED to go over 100c, which I can’t imagine why unless you are doing things outside of Cannabis- then get the right machine for the job… which isn’t a rotovap.

Devol and decarb in the SAME flask after solvent recovery works quite well.

With a diptube it doesn’t matter how slippery the outside of the flask is, because you never have to remove it.

I am talking cannabis

Do agree that almost all my processes are a lot different than most

And also want to emphasize that any sop I run is based on recovery of reagents as much as is possible ( maybe not economically but environmentally wich is my main drive)

Reason s why I have different parameters than most

The most common is an automation add on so it never needs to be moved. Otherwise, there is a trolley that looks kind of like a medical toilet chair with wheels.
