Yet another lanphan problem thread (DLSB 50/30 chiller)

Dang. What about refrigerant?

my dfy5/10 chiller lost its refrigerant. it showed no errors and still ran, just no cooling power.

Well I took it apart in an attempt to see if it had leaked refrigerant and accidentally pulled out the ribbon cable that connects to the display/buttons and after reconnecting it my unit started running again however now the buttons no longer work and I have to manually turn on and off power by using the breaker it’s connected to.

I’m just happy this thing is working again at least.

Ask them to ask their technician to send you a replacement part, either the circuit for the buttons has shorted or they just don’t work anymore, but I would start at either repairing that piece or asking for a replacement.

Well the recirculating pump just died on this chiller.

It’s still cooling however, I’m thinking for a temporary fix I could get a recirculating pump and just drop the hoses in the reservoir.

Anyone know where I could find a recirculating pump that could handle -30c quickly and possibly locally?

I’m located in NorCal.

sorry to hear that buddy. my suspicion was correct that the leakphan chillers are garbage and will continue to break due to piss poor components, i still havent bothered fixing my refrigerant leak. anyhow how about the ecoplus submersibles they brought up a while back?

Perfect thanks for the help.

Have you contacted @Terry_Manager for a replacement motor?

Now I dont feel so bad spending 1300 on a used 15+yr old vmr recirculating heater chiller and then paying 600 to get the chiller repaired. Still much cheaper than those lamphang garbage units.

No I ordered through someone else from lanphan. I’m just using a hydro pump from a areoponic cloner in the reservoir for now and have a ecoplus 1584 on the way.

I don’t plan on repairing this chiller and will be getting a polyscience chiller soon.

The ecoplus works great. Just don’t expose it to dry ice bubbles or acetone…

Mines doing the same thing, learned my lesson. Hope they’ll honor warranty and not have too much down time. I’ll get used respectable name brand next time. So when the compressor and fan and everything seems normal and the only symptom is no cooling, what did you do to fix it?

oh no sorry to hear that! i opened the chiller up and noticed it was wet/oily inside and suspected a leak. after peeling away some of the black insulation my hvac buddy charged the system and we could hear the leak, he sprayed some soapy water mix and noticed a hairline crack on a copper line where the child slave laborers had made a bend. easy fix but havent havent had time to fix it yet and im sure when i do it wont take long for the next problem to arise. i contacted leakphan and they didnt want to help so i disputed charges and revieved a full refund including shipping from american express.

Lanphan is known for chillers springing small fires. I got banned a couple weeks ago trying to expose and tell everyone about them. They changed thier name recently becusee they were originally baned from export/import in the USA.

Thanks for the reply, mine’s actually from lab 1st. They ship out of shengzhen, I believe. The unit had a bad circulation pump when I received as well. They sent a replacement pump without too much trouble. I took off the panels and didnt see oil. Glad to hear you got your money back at least. What did you find to replace it? Mines a DLSB 0520 I think

i bought a poly science 7L -20c chiller/recirculator, it works good but seems underpowered. i think this winter i will make a diy chiller with an AC unit.

Is a window unit more powerful than these smaller chillers? Link us a blueprint if you have it

@square_root_pharms & @Roguelab have both made the diy chillers i think, they would know alot more than me. there is some threads related to the diy chillers on 4200

The strongest chillers I have made is with split unit airco s
Just rip all the housing off of the internal evaporator and drop in a glycol bath make sure all is submerged
And the bath is insulated
I have a pond/aquarium pump recirculating
Have a hvac specialist bypass the thermostat and if nesseary place another that is submersible for units up to 16 amp there are these plug and play thermostats (30$) accurate up to 2 degrees C
An other cheap chiller are the ones for cooling tap beer they can not run real cold -10C but have quiet some cooling power and are plug and play with 4 ss coils included and a pump already installed

I
Pic is of a small unit larger versions are dibble the size with 1.5 kw electric consumption and 3 kw cooling power

Agree, they don’t know what they are selling and they don’t manufacturer them as well. They got it and put their brand on it and hope it work.
Yes, they all get a new brand name after their brand is stink
