Looking for a few great hemp growers and processors. I am currently at a Cannabis show in Athens. Hemp is legal in Greece as well as most of the EU. Free samples, free hemp for hall, as I expect a good cannabis show to offer. But, growers have only been at it for a year or so. So… The quality of the hemp flower is so so, and there are very few quality extracts. But the products are very popular here in Greece, hemp shops are growing like mushrooms, and it’s purely a social phenomenon, as the regulation has not changed in this market. In short, demand is strong and getting stronger.
I’ve now looking to export top shelf hemp flower, and THC free extracts to the EU. Specifically, waxes, crumble, shatter. Can these have 0 THC?
GMP certified preferred, ideally to European standards. The product will end up in the EU.
Prefer flower to have THC content of less than 0.2% with third party certificate of analysis.
Obviously cannot be treated than 0.3% THC as that is the legal federal limit in the US.
If you don’t mind, please provide pictures and COA, and your desired pricing for 1kg 10kg and 100kg.
Most likely we will start to do 1kg test orders to begin and test the export/import process. But I’m confident that the EU market will be very eager to absorb hundreds of kg per month of quality hemp.
That’s a little premature isn’t it? You sent me COA of 0% THC flower. I don’t need to explain why that is curious to me. Not suspicious, just curious. People tell me constantly the higher the CBD content, the higher the THC content. So I am trying to combine these conflicting pieces of data from different subject matter experts. I hope you understand that.
This is my first time doing anything related to import/export and hemp. Maybe I’m not the right person to assist you in selling into Europe, but I have a stack of business cards of Greek and Italian companies that want to import hemp. Personally my background is in real estate and investments. I’ve bought/sold over 100 properties in the US, but that is easy for me because I’ve done it before…find a good deal, and the escrow company handles the rest. I’m going to need to learn the ropes of int’l trade.
I hope you guys realize the opportunity that exists in Europe, and you can reach out to companies directly.
US sourced Hemp is looked at as a premium product. The opportunity is there for the taking, and due to changes in regulation both in the US and EU and Italy and Switzerland, etc. etc. there is a first mover advantage and potential arbitrage opportunities.
As far as payment of goods, I’m sure there is a standard method that protects all parties. So if you can provide guidance…
I hope I could connect you directly with the buyers, but we are all protecting our sources. A challenge, for example, is that they told me that once they receive the hemp in Italy, they will need to re-test it; well, that means me and you have to trust their testing, who pays for return shipping, etc etc… So it seems like there is a lot of trust that needs to be built up for international trade. Also there are uncertainties about how customs of the US and EU and the countries in the EU will treat hemp. For example, you’ve probably seen the 18,000 pounds of hemp that was stopped in Oklahoma and the carriers were arrested.
Fair enough, i’ve had a lot of experience with people telling me they want this or that and requesting information, documents, and my time, and then just dropping out of communication with no explanation or follow up. So forgive my impatience/skepticism, I’m getting jaded lol.
Those are simply COAs mate, you take with a grain of salt. This test comes from a 3rd party independent lab which is state licensed and certified, doing a sample of a gram or so of material, which is come from a batch of thousands of kilos. There’s definitely going to be deviation from the non-detectable THC reading when doing further sampling. The important thing when it comes to trade and transport is to have COAs which show below 0.3% THC. You can send a sample of the same material to ten different labs and get ten different results.
Escrow is used in the trade of hemp as well. There are even starting to be escrow companies catered to this industry. How a transaction goes depends as you said on the level of trust between buyer and seller.
NCND is standard when a broker is protecting business relationships. You can also have a contract with your buyer as their agent. If you are in real estate you are well familiar with brokerage.
One way we’ve done things before is to take a 20% deposit while the buyer brings in their own agent or trusted third party to view the material and pull samples themselves, which are then tested and compared with our original tests. These are either tested locally or sent directly to a lab of the buyer’s preference. Once those are in and compared, both parties agree upon a final price (or adjust the terms of the sale to suit what was found), and the buyer pays the full amount, then the material is shipped out. Some buyers choose to have their own agent or trusted 3rd party on location with the purchase lot through to the completion of the shipment.
