We already have a topic for who has the “best” CDT. Would like to know who has (experienced) terps that actually smell like the flower its claiming to smell like. A lot of claims but seems to be quite rare..
I make my own and some strains come out very true to the flower.

I found 90+ percent of the Terpenes I find out there are mediocre at best.
Running any type of Tangie or Lemon G and you get out pretty much exactly what goes in. Generally in my experience the more fruity the profile the more it stays the same

GMO, GG, Durban Poison, Strawberry Cheesecake, Hell’s OG, Grapefruit Durban, and Mac & Cheese have all done well for me. Lemon G is also a great one, had a cut that made terps like fresh lemonade.

The gap between massterpenes and other vendors it so big. Why is difference in quality so big while pricing is nearly the same?

there’s a few ways terps can be harvested or refined. I think a lot of ppl fuck up steam and make popcorn terps. They can also be refined from other process streams, which I also would expect to be gross.

I’ve worked with Dan over at Mass Terpenes for over a decade. They were one of our bigger clients for some of my original Incredible Hulk terps/extractions back around 2018 and I’ve heard good things about what Dan has been doing since then.
Beloit in this thread also has a great reputation for making some really loud terps.

I’ve been extracting terps straight from live flower and doing this here on Future4200 since 2018. We have clients that have been buying from us for years and have built businesses that are thriving and growing and still purchase from us regularly, so I’m pretty proud of what we’re making.
For me a lot of getting the profile to actually resemble the flower comes down to being really careful with time, heat and pressure. Keeping everything balanced and not cooking the shit out of it. No burnt popcorn terps lol
I’ve also figured out some ways to pull different fractions and use the spinning band to separate things a little more. I can get some of those lighter more volatile notes to pop and be more defined and then balance some of the heavier compounds back in for body and smoothness. Been playing with that for quite a while.
One thing I think is worth mentioning is smelling terps straight out of the jar as a pure extract really isn’t the same olfactory experience as the finished product.
Once you blend them into a vape at like 4-7% they open up completely differently and IMO that’s a much better place to judge how close they actually came to the flower.
Some profiles definitely translate better than others. The citrus, sweet and fruity stuff can come across really well. Some of the sulfur/gas/funk you want from something like an OG or Sour can be a lot harder to carry through, which is probably part of why people have such good luck with Tangie and Lemon G type profiles.
We’ve also been getting quite a bit more business out of Europe lately so we spent a bunch of time getting all the international export paperwork and documentation dialed in. Been pretty stoked to see those shipments moving cleanly.
Anyway figured I’d throw my experience in here since I’ve been fucking around with this stuff for a long time. Always down to nerd out on the extraction side of it.

From my understanding massterpenes is the only one doing hydrocarbon extraction where as the rest is doing steam extraction.
In your experience is steam always inferiour to hydrocarbon?
I’m not going to speak for other people with their extractions. I can say. That I have terpenes from many types of extraction including
CO2 sub critical extraction
Hydrocarbon extraction refined in many different ways
And
Rosin extracted Terps
Refinement after initial extraction is another story.

We’re using microwave assisted steam distillation and they definitely pick up some volatiles that need to be off gassed, but afterwards smell delicious. Hydrocarbon is just more expensive and time consuming I think.

No it never got resolved i got screen shots for proof if needed hes a dirty little scammer took money never gave product or money back. everything I was buying was 100 percent legal in Europe but he said could get it cheaper as im in uk, told me he had worked with the vendors for years then soon as I gave my money he went cold with me then they all of a sudden his people wouldnt get back to him and there was nothing he could do he said. do not entertain this man
