Prototype FFE testing at 90 gph (340 liters / hour)

Built this falling film evaporator and now doing testing on it with a srsly Rube Goldberg heater and chiller as we await the actual heater and chiller that are on order. Prelim testing is coming in at 90 gallons per hour of clean ethanol from “dirty” ethanol. By dirty I mean denatured ethanol that’s lightly colored due to many hemp extraction cycles. Here’s a short video of the recovery etoh-fall…

Currently we’re beefing up the home-built heater so we can get longer test times to verify the ethanol recovery rate over longer periods. Once we get the industrial heater and chiller, we’ll run a couple of full totes of extract to see what the combined recovery rate is (ethanol and crude). Here’s a pic of the prototype unit:

That things awesome! How much did it cost you to build it out, And were they mostly prefabricated parts or custom?

Custom build. We’ve did a smaller 40 gph unit earlier and this is the upscale to an 80 gph capable beast. Hopefully it’ll keep coming in at 80+ gph as we test. We intend to sell them once we have the recovery rate firmly nailed down.

Extraction tincture going into the FFE. Did a test yesterday that provided flow data as well as solid separation performance of CBD oil from recovered ethanol.
