LOM Automated Pre-Roll Filling and Twisting Machine

Original-owner LOM automated pre-roll filling & twisting machine.

This is a rotary automated cone machine for cone selection/loading, filling, tamping, twisting, cutting, flat-top packing and output handling.

The machine has been commissioned, tested, troubleshot and improved with direct support from LOM to work through operating issues and complete fixes and adjustments.

As shown in the operating video, the machine is represented with the following operating specifications:

  • Accuracy of approximately +/- 10% by weight

  • Example accuracy range of approximately 0.45-0.55 g on a 0.5 g pre-roll

  • Fill range of approximately 0.3 g to 1 g

  • Cone size range of approximately 84 mm to 109 mm

  • Factory/video-rated speed of approximately 800-1,000 joints per hour, depending on material, cone quality, setup and operating conditions

Factory specifications:

  • 110V power

  • PLC touchscreen controls

  • Material storage tank with mixer

  • Two filling stations

  • Two vibrating stations

  • Two tamping stations

  • Two twisting stations

  • Top cutter and fold function

  • 84 mm base configuration

  • 84 mm / 109 mm compatibility option

Considerable time and investment were spent commissioning and improving the machine. Work and replacement parts included sensor replacement, hopper upgrade, bearing/connection parts, pneumatic cylinders, alignment work and operating adjustments.

The operating video shows the machine running through the production sequence and producing finished pre-rolls. As with most automated pre-roll systems, performance depends heavily on flower grind, moisture, stickiness, cone quality and operator setup. Sticky material may require periodic cleaning and operator oversight.
