Isomerization to delta 8 from heat alone?

Is it possible to form delta 8 THC from just heating? Got test results back from some oil I decarbed at ~110-120C for 3 hours (was getting incomplete decarb at 1 and 2 hours, so increased time) that showed 13% delta 8 and only 0.31% CBN. I thought isomerization required a catalyst. Could it be converting at thattemps and time?

We know:

  1. Crude is a mixture of compounds that vary drastically.

  2. Delta-8 is formed under acidic conditions.

  3. Heat speeds up reactions

Wouldn’t it stand to reason that one of the unknown compounds in your crude is acidic and causing isomerization during the time it’s heated?

I got a report back the other day … 30% delta 9 35% delta 8 and CBC CBG CBN about 1.5% …
