Does anyone know what the theoretical yield is for creating THC isolate from a hydrocarbon extract with an average THC content of 70%? Thank you
There is no theoretical yield because there is no reaction, but if you have 70% by weight of an extract as the target compound I would hope your yield would be within a few grams of that weight. A lot of this comes down to what consistency it’s in when you try to separate it and your chosen separation method.
We do this in our lab quite often and, although you could theoretically remove all the THC with enough solvent and cycles, it won’t be efficient. In a realistic application, you can expect about get about 40-50% of the total weight in THC isolate if the starting material is 70%. Use the rest of the weight to go toward distillate to make the most of your time.
You’re wondering about thca isolate no?
The biggest loss is what you leave behind in the mother liquor making your isolate… don’t forget to calculate that one.
