In-Line Adsorption

So, I’ve seen recently that people are using adsorsorbents to purify crude before solvent removal and fractional distillation. Activated Carbon, Bleaching Clay, etc.

It seems that dedicating a whole column to this portion could be super beneficial to the removal of impurities. Even better, by altering the density of your adsorbent in this new column, you can control the residence time of your extract and make for much better reactions?

What are the currently technologies in this realm? What are some challenges that people have purifying this way? Is it worth the extra time/consumable investment?

We haven’t investagated removal of pesticides, But we are using a system we made for color removal from bho. It certainly does make a nice colored extract though!
