So recently a forum member helped me out with a whole bunch of things I needed help with. A homogenizer is the thing I need for said setup. The cat 1000 with a g20 probe was what was suggested. But i know nothing about homogenizers so i wanted to know, what is it that separates a 800 dollar homogenizer from a 2000 one. This is more for me to explain to the person thats purchasing than anything. For now mixing approx 500ml of distillate and terps is the work load. Ive read that the cats are the best, but my partner was curious as to other scientific homogenizers hes seen for much cheaper. The only advice i was given was to go with a blade type mixer and not slotted…So im asking, what to look for in a homogenizer for my needs. And are there any comparable to the cat 1000. thanks
Comparable homogenizers are a lil more pricey. You can start with a cheaper homogenizer. Mixing is annoying no matter what you use. The slot used in the scilogex has more drag. The blades on a whole bunch of the others are not reinforced.
This homogenizer can do up to 200 ml with a high viscosity rotor, and can be had for 800 dollars. THe Shaft is another 500, making it cheaper than a cat by 5-600 dollars
Im on a really bad phone but once you find one with a sealed shaft and a bladed rotor, you can look it up on tequipment.net and they will price match or have a lower price.
People prefer the cat because it is over built, has a slightly better rotor design (less heat), is cheap to rebuild if you mess it up, and it has a warranty. They have cheaper models, but they really suck.
gotcha… certainly im not secong guessing your assistance… infact everything you suggested has been already ordered… Just trying to have a proper answer for my partner when he asks “why isnt this 800 dollar scientific homogenizer good enough”
check ya messages pimpin
The generator shaft is the most important component of an homogenizer. A poorly designed generator shaft will produce uneven particle reduction and longer run times, up to 10 minutes or longer to homogenize 500ml MCT oil and CBD isolate for a tincture. It should only take 90 seconds for this process, not 10 minutes.
The video below is a demonstration on how to determine the efficiency of a Homogenizer Generator Shaft.

Any homogenizer distributors on this forum with discounts available for GLG members?
Thanks
Adam
Apparently you can get CATScientific Products straight from the source in Germany now man, hit up cat-ing.de
Yes, we do! You can shop the Kinematica line or ask @ShearGuy any questions you might have on homogenizers. Kinematica is available through Cascade Sciences and GLG Members get 5% off.
Is this good for 1 liter of raw distillate mixing into terpenes I’m going to do 3-4 separate batches

Absolutely not. That is the worst homogenizer you can use as it has a maximum mix of 50ml of disty
