Hey guys i have a serious problem with my distillate run

hi guys so my problem is cloudy dist on my second pass , and will attach a picture of my problem .hopefully someone can bless me with some knowledge.

first pictures is my heads with a little alcohol in it then i saw this oily layer forming and I’m really clueless as to what it can be , note i didn’t do the alcohol extraction myself, I just did the stilling off of the alcohol … I have no clue to what type of product went in this batch just took the run as a favor for someone. there is a see trough line on my condenser, in distillate

Almost looks like hempseed oil contaimination, but idk kinda hard to see; is the 2nd picture a biphasic system?

will take more pictures asap , its currently running in the spd but very cloudy outcome for a second pass distillate. falls with good color but ends up milky together in the 1l catching flask , can this be water/moisture contamination? i never saw this before until now .i don’t know what alcohol was used for the batch either can it be of low quality and thus give me moisture contam?

first time I see, what looks like condensation inside the spd while busy with a run. genuinely stumpd

Is your starting material prepped before you still? Or are we distilling mystery alch crude?

more info to this ,my vac is perfect cant be leaks.

for this run it was a mystery, not always the case but this was a help someone out situation. took out alc filtered with bentonite and charcoal and started first run . 1l worth of product so not sure if its terps or what it may be

im in the halfway more or less of the run and it looks clear now but first part was very milky

highly unlikely unless your condenser is super cold and even then; with suitable vacuum depths any water/volatiles should be in your coldtrap/ out your pump exhaust.

whats your condenser temp, whats your vacuum depth?

edit: ah I see your meter; 89 micron is relatively deep; any water/volatiles are def in the trap or pump exhaust. whats condenser temp?

im betting hempseed oil contamination. saw something similar in the early days of hemp. is this thc or cbd?

Looks to me like you just have some heads (terpenes) in your mains (cannabinoids) fraction. Maybe a little bit of water too.

Did you clean your SPD between first and second pass?

Water should not condense at 89 microns unless you running a cold condenser and if you are running at cold enough temp to condense water your distillate will absolutely clog up your condenser and stop flowing. Terps would not make your distillate cloudy like that. I don’t know about the condensation that you’re seeing in your equipment but the color of your distillate in the collecting flask and the cloudiness at least to me with the information I’m currently seeing you gave, looks like you didn’t do a good job winterizing.

I would suggest winterizing very likely fats and wax

the clearing up as the run progresses (gets hotter) also would explain this I think

Ya I’d agree with everyone, winterize it and rerun it.

Bentonite? Wouldn’t imagine that’d do much with alcohol as the solvent, right?

Definitely fatty acids or similar though, my two cents.
