Decarb/winterization or reverse pros and cons

Anybody with thoughts on winterizing before decarb or the other way around. Our SOPs dictate the former but if there are are reasons to switch i’d like to know. BTW this is BHO for distillation.
Thanks in advance

Depends on your SOP for winterization, some adsorbents like certain forms of AC have an affinity for THCA and will hold on to it.

do you know if those forms of AC have similar affinity for cbda vs cbd?

No adsorbants. 3:1 Ethanol. Filtered X 2.

I don’t know for sure but my suspicion would be that the COO that you lose in Decarb is what is attracting THCA to the AC, meaning the non decarbed CBD would have that same COO group and affinity for certain forms of AC. @cyclopath or @Roguelab probably have a lot more insight.

From my understanding, depending on the crude, fatty acids can cause unwanted isomerization during decarb. I would imagine at least getting the bulk of the fats and waxes out before decarbing would be ideal, perhaps I’m wrong though.

I’m also under the impression that certain types of AC like to grab THCA.

If you decarb first your fats and lipids will be smaller so you will have to filter below 1micron.
