Crude viscosity relation to potency

Is there a simple way to test crude viscosity to determine potency

Short answer: No.

Long answer: No, but with words after it.

(I would have just written “No.” but there’s a character limit.)

Yes

If it’s crystallizing, it likely has a cbd content north of 65%

That’s definitely true in a vast majority of situations. I was more meaning that one could not use a viscometer and accurately determine the potency of an oleoresin or crystalline.

You can calibrate a brix meter to give you potency of tincture…

It won’t be generalizable across prep methods, but should be relatively accurate against the extraction method it was generated for

Do you have a simple way to accurately measure viscosity?!?

How about a method to validate against?

Chances are you can use it to measure solvent/crude ratio…but the viscosity of finished crude is going to vary so much based on terpene profile (among other things), that you are unlikely to be able to generate a decent standard curve.

But that shouldn’t stop you from trying IF you’ve got the tooling…
