....and stuff (medicinal mushroom and other herbs extracts)

I’ve had some extra time lately so I dove into extraction of reishi mushrooms as well as velerian root.

Reishi was extracted at room temp for 4 days in a mason jar with heptane and ethanol, filtered and reduced under vacuum. (pictured) There are some visible fats and whatnot in it. Smells just like reishi mushroom (tea?)

The valerian root was dried, chopped in a blender and extracted with ethanol for 3 days at room temp. Also filtered and reduced under vacuum. Not pictured since it’s just brown goo. It kind of tastes like minty licorice. I didn’t extract enough to attempt a distillation of velerenic acid, there just wasn’t enough in the BF. Although, a terp of some sort came over at about 32c that contaminated the receiving flask.

Have any of you played with extraction of any other magic flora?
