I am putting out feelers for demand for a new nano-emulsion system.
I have been developing a robust general use nano-emulsification system that is clean label and significantly cheaper than other proprietary blends. I am humbly asking if there are any people who would be compelled to purchase this emulsifier blend for their products if quality matches a system like Industrial Sonomechanics, and is much cheaper ($615/kg for pilot batch pricing).
Their mix is quite expensive, especially in the quantities needed costing about $950/kg for singles to $500/kg for 100kg with other systems being comparable.
It’s taken a few years, I finally have sourced the ingredients necessary to create an emulsion system that is pH stable at pH 3.5, low viscosity, and clean label ingredients.
Purchasing single kgs of mix, pricing would start at $615/kg for the pilot batch with the goal of getting pricing down to $485/kg for singles after a year depending on volume. The goal is offer competitive pricing for these systems.
If this is compelling to you please let me know. If it not compelling I would like to know why. Thank you for your candor and feedback.
@Dwada Usage rates for sonomechanics mix is 3-5g per g of THC, basically $3000-$5000 per kg of cannabinoid.
The usage rates for my formula are currently 3:1 with an express goal of current trials being to lower that ratio. TLDR, similar usage rates, much lower price.
@pdxcanna I have not seen the ampersand stuff. This formulation is currently for drinks and liquid form products, powder formulations are next with the addition of maltodextrin or starch.
I test these systems on in house products, we sell some powder to other manufacturers and they prefer powder form factor for handling and dosing. It seems like powders are desirable for other reasons.
Some links for folks, in case anyone’s interested in reading up on cyclodextrins or nano emulsions.
I’m sure some of these links have been posted here before, but maybe some are new to some here!
Cyclodextrins are a super fascinating rabbit hole I went down a number of years ago.
I was recently having a lot of fun working on powdered inclusion complexes.
(I did not attempt any nano aspects)
Here’s my cbg loaded at 10%ish so each 0.1g is 10mg. (Was the target)
Have you tested flocculation and aggregation when it’s introduced to highly acidic stomach fluid? What does it do when dropped into a pool of hcl rich bile? Also, how does it perform transdermally?
Formulations can tolerate low pH enviroments of 2.5-3 for at least several hours, likely days.
Transdermal has not been tested and isn’t really in scope.
Just to clarify, we are all responding in reference to the cyclodextrin emulsion, right? I’m struggling to see the point of this. Why so vague on the specifics? Is this a theoretical framework that’s still being tested?
I’d like to see some kind of diffusion metrics in various culinary mediums. Can the formula get easily trapped at interfacial mucus membranes in-vivo? Can it be cooked with at high temps with exposure to various caustic/acidic/corrosive chemicals? At what metabolic point does the system decouple and attach to the CB receptors? And is the molecule able to display any “stealth” characteristics(immune/enzymatic evasion). Also, how deep will it bury Cannabinoids into the intracellular space? Can it outperform traditional vaped/smoked cannabinoids at seeking out receptors that have undergone endosomal retention or similar tolerance defense mechanisms? Sorry for all the questions, but these are type of questions you’ll be encountering if you want to prove the valuation of your product. I’ve found most piperine/mct emulsions to still outperform most nano blends when compared after culinary processing. So, forgive me if I’m a bit skeptical of new edible tech
